Make up at Manish Arora. I think make up is misperceived quite a lot of the time. Some people mainly think it’s all about making you look good and stuff, which yeah, it is in a lot of cases. But, in fashion I feel it’s a completely different thing. It’s as if it’s another accessory, which ties everything together. I was watching some backstage footage from the Rag and Bone Autumn/Winter show this year and it was very inspired by India and the contrast between rich and poor. The makeup artist was saying that she made the skin very porcelain (“very like Kate Blanchett from Lord of the Rings” - direct quote) and the eyes more wild to convey that idea (she actually said “stready”, but I’m not sure if it’s a word). It’s an art, and it’s frustrating when people sometimes fail to see that. This Manish Arora makeup is so freaking cool, especially the eyebrows - they’re just…yeah wow.
