Karlie Kloss fresh off the Balmain runway. I am quite obsessed with the collection Olivier Rousteing delivered for Balmain, and the hair for the show was too-cool-for-school as per. I don’t know what it is about these short bob like hairdos (or “lobs”), like the one Karlie is currently sporting, but they seem so chic. I even considered chopping off my really long hair, but I think it might just have the opposite effect on my childlike face. I was reading about Emily Weiss’ on Into the Gloss (blog) her must haves for that certain month and she said she used this product called “Oribe Fiber Groom” and I quote from her, “It is, hands down, the best thing I’ve found for short, straight, otherwise boring hair. You’ll look like Leo in Romeo + Juliet in no time.”

Now of course, anything that claims resemblance to Leo Dicaprio in Romeo and Juliet gets a thumbs up from me. I know she said “short hair”, but I did some research and it works for long hair as well. So I can look like Leo if he decided to go as Jesus to a Fancy dress party.

Sometimes I feel like I have S.A.D (Seasonal Affetive Disorder), because I’m so much happier when I can whip my sunglasses out. Saying that, studies show that everyone has a tiny bit of S.A.D and people tend to generally be happier in the sun. But, this isn’t a science lesson. Grace Darling by Helen Warner. I’ve been thinking a lot about the sea recently (oh wow, Sabriyah, revolutionary thoughts *sarcasm*) and in particular the movement of the water. You see, I was thinking about “Movement” for our next art project as a theme and the movement of water is quite captivating. You’ll know if you’ve seen the water gifs on tumblr, because I can stare at those for hours. But, I’m not really sure how to express this idea that has been induced in my mind - there’s inspiration and artists and all these other things I can think of, but I’m just not sure how to put it together.

I haven’t blogged Abbey Lee Kershaw in such a long time. When I recieved my copy of Anja Rubik’s 25 Magazine in the post, it came with a big double sided poster of Abbey Lee. She looks positively stunning and I am itching to put it up (but can’t because of the lack of wall space). On one side is a close up of her face and on the other is one of her semi-naked, which cannot be hung up, much to my surprise when I turned it over. I noticed in this picture, she’s wearing a Fendi bag and to be honest I would never have thought of pairing a Fendi bag with her bohemian/Banshee ways. I always see her looking incredibly laid-back (she’s horizontal) and just not the Fendi type. There’s a first for everything.

Giveaway FunTime. I recently received these Oliver Peoples glasses as a gift, but they don’t really complement my face shape at all. They’re exquisite though, and have never ever ever been worn (no face germs!). I also couldn’t find this exact pair anywhere online after lots of searching so they’re either a prototype or just magical. They’re Anderson frames with light-purple lenses. They are handmade in Italy, worth about $300, legit legit etc.

Alexander McQueen detail Autumn/Winter 2006. I think the sad thing about a lot of Couture or pieces like this, is that not many people see the small details of a piece and what they all consist of. I saw a Givenchy Haute Couture fashiontv segment, where Riccardo Tisci is talking about his couture collection for that season and holy communion, I would not know half the fantastic details of each garment, by looking at a snapshot on style.com only.

Definitely one of the best variations of the Trench coat...

Definitely one of the best variations of the Trench coat species, that I have seen in my existence. It looks a lot like Alexander McQueen’s gold feather coat from Lee’s last collection in 2010, but I’d say this is more wearable. If you consider gold feathers in excess wearable. I love it though.

I don’t know about you or the majority of senior/high school attendees, but you know that really sterotypical idea of a Prom dress? Sequins, glitter, sparkle, excess tulle? I don’t like it. Not one bit. In fact, I hate prom dresses. I can just about bear Sherri Hill, but I was thinking about it and I’d never really wear anything like that. Sparkle and shine and glitter and more shine is good in moderation or when done by Roberto Cavalli or the likes (Elie Saab, whoever you want etc), but not distastefully. With some of these dresses, people spend up to about £400 or more on them - think about what you can buy for £400 - you could buy a designer dress for starters. McQ, Alice and Olivia, scoure the outnet.com for a good priced dress. Or you could borrow your cousin’s old prom dress (which was really nice in my instance) and use the money for some Isabel Marant sneakers, which will probably get more wear, love and attention, than a Prom dress. The phrase from School of Rock comes into play here…generic prom dresses, “You’re tacky and I hate you.” My rant is over.

“Saccadic 1” 2009. Oil on Canvas. Cara Thayer & Louie Van Patten. There’s a girl in my school, who is a couple of years or so above me and is doing an A level painting which really reminds me of this. I think her theme was “phobias” and she had decided to explore claustraphobia and the idea of feeling trapped or suffocated - she basically wrapped her face in cling film so it was all squished and morphed out of shape, took a picture and started painting it - my god, it was a good idea. It’s interesting to see the human form in a twisted way (literally) or someway alternative to how we’d normal perceive them.

It’s times like this, when it’s winter, get’s dark outside at like 4pm, 3 months until really super important life changing exams, and a Thursday evening (when you still have to endure another day at school) that you just want to be one of those girls in this picture. I’d do pretty much anything to be either of those girls, clutching their Gucci shopping bags, walking across the Seine in Summer. But, I suppose that’s why we have to endure these winters, and exams and everything else, so we can do all that Paris-Summer-Gucci stuff (although, I’d be shopping at Isabel Marant, Givenchy or Balmain) whenever we want in the future.

Ehh, I still don’t know what to make of Rosie Huntington...

Ehh, I still don’t know what to make of Rosie Huntington Whiteley - she’s gorgeous of course, but I don’t know whether she’s too pouty for my liking, as a high fashion model or whatever. Saying that I did draw a picture of her from a Rankin photograph that looked pretty stunning - and she was fairly easy to draw.

Which Vogue is this in? I need to get it. Uh, two French words - Les. Misérables. For me, it was the best film I’d seen all year - and one of the best in my life. My god, I could not stop crying at some points (*cough* Anne Hathaway singing I dreamed a dream), laughing at others (the fact that Borat a.k,a Sascha was in it) and just genuinely smiling a lot of the time. It had the ability to make you feel so many emotions in such a short space of time and to be honest - something not even the best books have the ability to do. They usually only make me feel one strong emotion, which tends to be “Whyyyy did you kill that character!?”. In Les Mis, they pretty much killed all the characters you love, but I’m not going to ruin it…even though I kind of just did. you should have seen it by now anyway. The costumes weren’t to the same level as Anna Karennina, but HELL, IT WAS SUCH A GOOD FILM. The thing that strikes you when you see Amanda Seyfried for the first time on screen, is just how naturally beautiful she is, hence this picture.

Givenchy, Spring/Summer 2013. I would quite happily wear Givenchy t-shirts all my life. I don’t know, but I think my taste in music these days is also dictating my fashion tastes as well. I’ve been listening to so much Kanye West and his new album recently and I think his association and affinity for leather and Givenchy is rubbing off on me, like it rubbed off on Kim (conicidence, I think not). Saying that, I would probably love it regardless, because the designs are so unlike anything else. These t-shirts they come out with, the Madonna, Birds of Paradise etc, they’re all kind of a spin on the classic idea of a scarf print. There’s a lot of this baroque architecture and cool ceilings involved (I love ceilings) and interestingly religion. I noticed the angels, Madonna - some classic Renaissance painting. It’s as if Givenchy is showing the evolution of religion and people have a lot of the same beliefs and morals since the Renaissance, but it’s been modernised and turned on its head. Reading too much into a genuinely cool design…again.

This is saved in my pictures under the title “DRAW THIS”. I suppose I was pretty passionate and intent that I drew this picture at that moment in time, because I only use capitals headings when I’m excited or I’ve accidently pressed the Caps Lock key. This is from Lana Del Rey’s song, “Ride” and all I remember about it is her singing about some “sugar daddy” or another - typical Lana DR going for guy with grey beards.

Renderings of Egon Schiele. I remember when I was in year 7 (about 12 years old or so), we first learnt the word “render” and were told to use that instead of “colour in” and it was all terribly fancy. Yeah, I never used the word “render” again, up until now. Although, Egon ~~drew~~ rendered people in that very warped and almost cartoony way at some points, I feel like he can extract the very essence of a person through his style of drawing people how they are…emotionally and physically combined.

The only reason I know who Patrick Dermarchelier is, is because of The Devil Wears Prada. “I have Patrick!” - do you remember that line? I never knew what it mean, and I figured it might be some sort of code for….I don’t know, “I know how to spell Gabbana this time” or something. And then that moment when the Dragon Lady (as they call her) says “Did Demarchelier confirm?” and you want to die for Andy, because the look on Meryl Streep’s face is hellishly intimidating. So that’s my Demarchelier story - all I can say now is that, now I know why there was such a big fuss of Patrick.

Karlie Kloss looks so much better in her short bob by the way. Not that she didn’t look amazing before, but she just looks even more gorgeous, if that’s possible.

All I could think about when I saw this picture was “Jared Leto has that leather strap. Jared Leto has that leather strap,” and that, my friends, is what has made it automatically cool. That’s a pathetic excuse I know, but you can’t deny your inner rock band fan-girl. It’s Dior Homme by the way, if that makes it any better. I know Karl Lagerfeld approves.

I would not mind Kanye West being my stylist. But, I’m not sure Kim Kardashian’s style is necessarily what Kanye likes to see her in. There’s a lot of tight leather, baggy leather, Givenchy, black, white and black…and although I love all those things with a passion (especially Givenchy - can’t go wrong there), I prefer Kim wearing all her frilly colourful stuff, that fit better. They look like a pretty sick couple in this picture though.
